Corona mutants such as the omicron variant continue to surprise us with their insidious optimisations. But two things remain the same: the route of infection through infectious droplets and aerosols – and their average size. The renowned German Society for Hospital Hygiene defines the droplets as relatively large (> 5 µm), while the aerosols are relatively small (0.3 to 5 µm).
