Mobile air coolers – how efficient are they really?

Air coolers, like the PAE series air coolers from Trotec, are economical in purchasing and in energy consumption, and are fast and easy to install. And they don’t require a hot air exhaust hose, as they don’t generate any hot air. However, Air coolers don’t produce “real cold air”, but rather remove the so-called “sensible heat” from the air – which can effect a temperature difference of 2 to 4 °C in the room. But how does it work and how efficient do they really are?

Today the delivery of our great-value air conditioning miracle is beginning again, which in contrast to conventional air conditioning units works without chemical coolants and without laborious installations. Air coolers such as the new PAE 25 are direct air coolers and, unlike air conditioning units, they do not feature a refrigeration system (such as in a refrigerator), but cool the air in a room using the natural principle of water evaporation. Everybody knows this cooling effect, for example from perspiration or cooler air in the vicinity of waterfalls, rivers and lakes.
