Mass infection promotes call for air purifiers in public areas

A new case of infection in Frankfurt shows how the importance of air purifiers in houses of worship and prayer. Despite the fulfilment of all requirements, a mass infection occurred after a church service. Experts are therefore increasingly demanding: only a permanent virus air purifier can protect against the inhalation of viral aerosols, which are expelled into the room, especially during loud prayer and singing, and these can remain in the air for hours. The new TAC V+ high-frequency air purifier from Trotec obviously completes insufficient hygiene concepts by providing effective protection against the risk of infection via indoor air. The air purifier quickly and effectively filters infectious aerosols from the air in the room – before they can enter the body via the respiratory tract.

During a service in the Frankfurt Christian Baptist Church, numerous people were infected with the corona virus. The exact number of those affected cannot yet be estimated, but 16 infections from the region alone are directly attributed to the service. How many people in total have become infected and whether this has already created new chains of infection is currently still unclear.

Doctors and virologists predicted as much: protective measures are not enough

Leading virologists have long warned of the dangers of infectious aerosols inhaled through indoor air. These particles, which are only a thousandth of a millimetre in size, are ejected into the room when breathing, speaking or singing, and some of them float in the room at head height for hours. If only one worshipper in the church is infected with coronavirus then with every prayer and every song, they eject thousands of infectious particles into the air of the room. Driven by air circulation, these invisible aerosol clouds spread between the rows of seats and are inhaled, even by people much further away. Despite the use of masks and the observance of minimum distances, infections via the air we breathe cannot be reliably prevented. Especially not in houses of prayer, where disproportionately high aerosol concentrations are formed between believers while singing.

“This danger of infection via indoor air can only be effectively counteracted with a permanent air purifier,” says Joachim Ludwig, Technical Managing Director of Trotec. The first institutions and companies are already using the TAC V+ air purifier from Trotec to protect those in churches, often elderly people, from the dangers of airborne infection. This is in addition to the existing hygiene measures, which are being “exposed” as incomplete with every additional day of relaxation and with every new outbreak of corona.

The TAC V+ high-frequency air purifier with its special H14 air filter, which cleans the room air up to 20 times/hour, makes it possible to limit the aerosol risks.

Aerosol air filtering is usually completely ignored in hygiene concepts

If one looks at the real distribution of possible infection paths, it becomes obvious that social distancing rules, hand washing and plexiglas partitions alone are not enough. “Almost half of the transmission is aerosol, almost the other half is droplet transmission and perhaps 10 percent of transmission is smear or contact infection”.

Effective aerosol air filtration is therefore an indispensable component of any group of hygiene measures, especially for churches and prayer houses. The mobile air purifier TAC V+ filters 99.995 % of all suspended particles such as bacteria and viruses from indoor air with a special HEPA filter. Thanks to these first-class properties, H14 high-performance filters are even used in operating theatres for clean air production and in comparably hygiene-sensitive areas.

Effective within seconds: before infectious aerosols are inhaled

Virulent aerosol clouds are quickly and efficiently diluted by large quantities of clean air in the upper half of the room and neutralized by the filter in the area close to the ground within a few minutes – before being inhaled by the nearest persons. The risk of a sudden infection among several people can be reduced to almost zero if used correctly.

Only a coordinated set of hygiene measures consisting of distancing, partitions, disinfection and aerosol air filtration, can offer the greatest possible all-round protection against infection.

The TAC V+ is now available in various colour variants and, if desired, individualised at a price of £3,797.04 in the Trotec Shop. Such investment costs are disproportionately low. We would also be pleased to inform you about our favourable rental conditions.
