The portable battery charger PBCS 2A is a microprocessor-controlled all-round charger for 12-volt car, motorcycle and motor scooter batteries between 4 Ah and 60 Ah. Here’s how it works
With the universal battery charger PBCS 2A, you can ensure the reliability of your fleet and increase the lifetime of 12V batteries. The 6-stage charging cycle of the Trotec battery charger is automatically monitored and adjusted by the intelligent microprocessor control. The battery voltage and charging progress display shows at a glance via LEDs which state of charge (25%, 75% and 100%) the battery is at and which mode is set on the charger. The charger’s features and functions include three adjustable programmes:
- Standard charging mode
The standard charging mode with a multi-stage charging cycle is suitable for fully charging partially discharged 12V batteries of the lead-acid, AGM and gel types. The cyclically optimised charging increases the service life of the battery.
- Trickle charge mode
The trickle charge mode is used to permanently and safely compensate for the self-discharge of the battery. The maximum charge capacity is permanently maintained without damaging the battery by excessive charging. Ideally suited for preventing deep discharge of the battery in rarely used vehicles such as vintage cars.
- Winter charging mode
Modern batteries are extremely sensitive to temperature. If the ambient temperature drops below 5 °C, the chemical processes in a lead-acid battery slow down. In this case, the winter charging mode is recommended for fast charging of 12 V batteries in cold environments (-20 °C to +5 °C) with increased end-of-charge voltage.
Of course, the PBCS 2A also places great emphasis on safety: the charger is protected against dust and water jets in accordance with protection class IP65. The PBCS 2A reliably protects your battery from overcharging and even accidental swapping of the battery poles when connecting is no problem, because the integrated reverse polarity protection prevents short circuits, sparking and damage to the battery or the charger. Fully insulated battery terminals round off the safety package.
