Here’s how it works
With the universally applicable battery charger PBCS 6A, you can ensure the reliability of your vehicle fleet and increase the service life of 12V batteries. Battery problems are avoided, annoying starting problems are a thing of the past, important vehicle settings are retained when the battery is changed. The intelligent microprocessor control of the PBCS 6A permanently monitors the multi-stage charging cycle and adjusts it fully automatically as required.
Safety is of course a top priority. The charger is protected against dust and water jets in accordance with protection class IP65. The PBCS 6A reliably protects your battery from overcharging and even accidentally reversing the battery poles when connecting is no problem, because the integrated reverse polarity protection prevents short circuits, sparking and damage to the battery or the charger. A low or high battery voltage is signalled by a warning message on the LC display.
Both non-maintenance and maintenance-free 12 V batteries are supported, including wet batteries such as lead-acid, Ca/Ca and EFB batteries, as well as gel and AGM batteries. - Standard charging mode
The standard charging mode with multi-stage charging cycle is suitable for fully charging partially discharged 12V lead-acid and gel batteries. The cyclically optimised charging increases the service life of the battery.
- AGM charging mode
The AGM charging mode is especially suitable for charging 12 V batteries of the AGM type. The cyclically optimised charging increases the service life of the battery.
- Trickle charge mode
The trickle charge mode is used to permanently and safely compensate for the self-discharge of the battery. The maximum charge capacity is permanently maintained without damaging the battery by excessive charging. Optimally suited to prevent deep discharge of the battery in rarely used vehicles such as classic cars.
- Winter charging mode
Modern batteries are extremely sensitive to temperature. If the ambient temperature drops below 5 °C, the chemical processes in a lead-acid battery slow down. In this case, the winter charging mode is recommended for fast charging of 12 V batteries in cold environments (-20 °C to +5 °C) with increased end-of-charge voltage.
- Reconditioning mode for removed or free-standing/detached batteries
The reconditioning mode is used to repair deeply discharged lead-acid batteries so that they can regain their nominal capacity. The service life of the battery is extended, and in many cases reconditioning can avoid the need to buy a new one. Reconditioning mode is not suitable for batteries with a sealed design (e.g. AGM or gel).
- Supply mode
If a battery needs to be disconnected or replaced, the PBCS 6A serves as a power source in supply mode. All of the vehicle’s electronic settings are retained.
