Using MID-Compliant* power strips, renovation companies as well as tradesmen must calculate the amount of energy taken from the customer for billing purposes. But where only one power consumer is used, the use of large MID socket strips is simply ineffective. In such cases we, instead, recommend using what is probably the most compact energy consumption measuring device on the market: the new, BX50 MID, which is finally available – in unbeatable brand quality from Trotec.
The BX50 MID is an optimal solution for commercial energy consumption measurements for billing purposes, but can of course also be used as a qualified meter in the home, if costly power guzzlers are to be exposed in a professional manner. The MID-Compliant* energy consumption meter can be simply plugged in between an electrical appliance and a standard household earthed socket (230 V/ AC) without any further efforts in terms of installation. A BGI-608-compliant adapter plug only has to be used when operating the BX50 MID on construction or assembly sites at a building installation socket with unknown protective measures.
Here’s how it works
The BX50 MID meter is designed for fast, easy use – a menu button therefore gives you access to all display functions. The illuminated display shows watts, volts, amps, active power, power factor (cos F), kWh or frequency as options. While the total consumption meter cannot be tampered with in accordance with legal requirements, the BX50 MID also has a resettable daily consumption meter.
In addition to the MID conformity, further requirements apply to such measuring devices in some EU countries, including Germany. Here, the German Measurement and Verification Act (MessEG) also aims to ensure that no other electricity consumers are connected or replaced by others during the period of use.
That is why the BX50 MID is the only energy consumption meter in its class on the market to be equipped with two integrated sealing slots. This solution, which is protected by utility models, enables users to secure the plug-in installation in accordance with regulations, for example by means of consecutively numbered pull-through seals (available as an option as accessories). The identification number printed on each seal is also displayed as an universal bar code that can be easily scanned for documentation purposes.
What does * MID-Compliant mean?
MID-Compliant meters comply with the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), which defines the requirements for active power meters used for billing purposes. This also applies, for example, to energy consumption measurement for billing insurance companies or customers. The previous initial verification is replaced by MID conformity, but the devices must be re-calibrated after a defined period – electronic meters in Germany, for example, after 8 years.
Four of the many advantages I particularly like:
- the professional measuring device for quick and easy recording of energy demand of electrical consumers
- MID-Conformity – approved for determining commercial energy consumption for billing purposes
- the sealing slots for plug protection in accordance with the German Measurement and Verification Act (MessEG)
- the non-manipulative total consumption meter
