A manual circular saw and a good assortment of different circular saw blades are part of the basic equipment of every manual and DIY enthusiast. With the right saw blade, precise cuts when cutting mouldings, panels or boards are just as easy as clean longitudinal cuts through thick worktops and wooden beams. The new Trotec saw blades are made of high-quality carbon steel with very sharply ground wolf teeth. This steel is extremely hard – the result is a significantly greater sharpness and longer service life combined with high wear resistance.
The high-quality circular saw blade sets are available in 4 different sets. These differ in diameter (Ø 150 or 190 mm), in the number of teeth (24 or 40) and in the saw blade mounting (bore: Ø 16 or 20 mm). The following criteria will help you choose the right circular saw set:
Saw blade size and inner diameter of the bore
When selecting the set, pay attention to the diameter of the circular saw blade and the bore size of the saw blade holder.
Outer diameter of the saw blade
The larger the diameter of the saw blade, the deeper the circular saw can penetrate the material. However, the saw blade must also fit into the housing of the circular saw.
Holder (bore)
The most common circular hand saws and some crosscut saws have holders with a diameter of 16 or 20 mm. With reduction rings, larger saw blades can also be used on circular saws with smaller saw blade holders. Information on the saw blade holder and the maximum saw blade diameter can be found in the device manual of your circular saw.
Cut quality
The cutting quality is generally determined by the number of teeth of a circular saw blade. Since wood is a comparatively soft material, almost all circular saw blades are suitable for working with wood. The selection of the saw blade is crucial depending on the type of cuts you want to make. Different tooth profiles are recommended for the different types of wood (hard or soft wood) and types of cut (precise longitudinal cut or rough cut).
Lower number of teeth (24 teeth)
For rough cuts, for example to saw firewood for the fireplace, you only need a few teeth on the saw blade. Even very soft wood can be sawn with a circular saw blades with a low number of teeth. You can achieve fast results, but the cut quality is relatively coarse.
Higher number of teeth (40 teeth)
Precise longitudinal and mitre cuts, for example the cutting of skirting boards or wall panels, can be achieved with a higher number of teeth. The more saw teeth tear on the wood, the cleaner the cutting edges and the quality of the cut.
