Here’s how it works
Measurement of the characteristic values and regulation of the hands are carried out inside the Thermohygrometer BZ21M via a bimetallic thermometer and a specially treated synthetic fibre that expands when it is moist and contracts when it is dry. The resulting change in length is converted into a rotary movement by mechanical levers and axles and transferred to the hand in a manner comparable to a clock-work. The BZ21M does not require any batteries or maintenance inspections as it does not have any electronic components. If necessary, the display of the low-maintenance thermohygrometer can be readjusted using an easily accessible adjusting screw. All four measuring values are displayed simultaneously and in an easily understandable manner on the dial in cross-hand design:
