It’s been in the air for a while! ´The Robert Koch Institute has now also confirmed that the coronavirus spreads via the air in a room[1]. In order to reduce this risk of infection, PC retailer, Notebooksbilliger.de, is using more stringent coronavirus protection measures in its reopened store in Munich, even measures that go beyond the legal requirements. Trotec’s new TAC V+ high-frequency air purifier is designed to protect customers from airborne infection by filtering infectious aerosols (tiny saliva particles) out of the air in the room. According to scientists and virologists, aerosols are one of the main sources of infection for the coronavirus. If, on the other hand, the air in the room is permanently and effectively “cleaned”, in short time intervals, the risk of infection via aerosols released when speaking or coughing is significantly reduced.
In order to protect employees and customers from infection with the coronavirus even better than as required by law, Notebookbilliger.de AG is equipping its shop location in Munich with the new TAC V+ air purifying technology from Trotec for when it reopens on 18 May.
“The protection of our employees and customers is our top priority. Therefore there was no question for us when it came to adjusting our hygiene measures accordingly, now that even the RKI is warning about airborne transmission. In future, the air in our stores will be cleaned around the clock so that our staff and customers can be sure that there are no viruses flying around in the air”, says Paul Zidek, Head of Retail, Notebooksbilliger.de AG.
The company will be implementing the new TAC V+ air purifier, which has been specially developed for aerosol filtration in commercial premises by the Heinsberg-based company Trotec, a specialist in room air filtration and a European leader in the development of mobile air purifiers and associated HEPA particulate filters.
The TAC V+ devices have been individually produced for Notebooksbilliger.de in their corporate colour orange and customised with the slogan “Shopping without worries – we even clean the air for you”. Thus, the devices fit seamlessly into the corporate design and do not look “disruptive” in the store, but rather are a welcome service for increased safety when shopping. “Customers will appreciate it,” says Paul Zidek.
Aerosols – the invisible risk of infection in the air
When breathing, speaking or coughing, we release not only large, visible droplets into the room in a sort of mist, but also tiny particles known as aerosols in much larger quantities. However, while large droplets sink to the ground after only about 1.5 meters due to their weight – which is why the regulations prescribe a distance of 1.5 meters – infectious aerosols measuring only a thousandth of a millimetre stay in the air “for several hours, in fact’’. Distancing rules, spit guards, masks and more frequent hand washing alone therefore do not protect against transmission of the virus when we are shopping. Aerosols released when speaking spread invisibly through the circulating room air for hours and are then inhaled. The aim must therefore be to prevent the flow of breathing from reaching sales areas as much as possible. And this can be achieved with combined use of a TAC V+ air purifier.
Virus-free room and breathing air in shops and hypermarkets: TAC V+ High-Frequency Air Purifier
With the new TAC V+ air cleaner, Trotec has developed a unique indoor air cleaner with HEPA thermal decontamination technology. The air in closed rooms is circulated and cleaned just as effectively by the mobile TAC V+ as by purifiers in hygiene-sensitive clean room environments and hospital operating rooms. This is made possible by the very high air performance of the air purifier as well as a new type of HEPA thermal decontamination. This means that even the Munich shop location of notebooksbilliger.de can permanently be kept almost virus and germ-free “regardless of the number of people in the room”.
What sounds very technical in theory, proves to be extremely uncomplicated in practice. The air is sucked in near the floor, freed from bacteria and viruses by the HEPA filter and returned into the room as germ-free clean air. No installation, no complicated connection process. Simply plug in and immediately provide the highest possible protection against infection!
The TAC V+ offers maximum protection for employees and customers
Distancing rules, a reduction in the number of customers in the store and increased cleaning and disinfection procedures are, when considered in isolation, all sensible measures! But notebooksbilliger.de, as a pioneer in terms of hygiene, wanted to offer their customers and employees much more than just the legally required standard. They want to ensure that the people in the room are protected from all possible transmission paths. And also to prevent the inhalation of infectious aerosols, which are expelled, invisible, into the air when we cough, rising up to several metres into the air like smoke and only sinking to the ground over a large area slowly after several hours, even behind supposedly safe sneeze guards.
The danger of becoming infected with the coronavirus in a shop due to these minute, infectious airborne aerosols is reduced to almost zero when using a TAC V+ air purifier with a virus filter!
You can’t ask for more, and you should demand no less of the protection for your customers and employees:
- Compliance with all requirements and hygiene regulations (minimum distance, compulsory masks, limitation of customers in a store, increased disinfection measures)
- Air purification to reduce the airborne risk of infection
Interesting facts about the H14-HEPA particulate filter with a transmittance of ≤ 0.005 %
H14 virus filters, specially developed by Trotec for the TAC V+, impress with their first-class filter efficiency and their innovative performance characteristics. With their transmission level of just 0.005% and separation level of 99.995%, they offer 10 times the separation efficiency compared to conventional H13 filters. Thanks to these first-class properties, H14 high-performance filters are even used to produce clean air in operating theatres and in other comparably hygiene-sensitive areas. The safest possible way to protect the employees and customers of Notebooksbilliger.de AG from the dangers of infection.
All H14 high-performance filters offered by Trotec meet the highest quality standards, which are obligatory for the filtration of bacteria and viruses:
- Each H14 high-performance filter is individually tested and given its own serial number.
- The test report is enclosed in duplicate as a certificate with each H14 filter.
- The original test certificate can be filed away and a copy attached to the air purification device if required.
- H14 HEPA high performance filters are tested according to EN 1822 and EN 60335-2-69.
The TAC V+ is available in various colours and with a customisable weaving surface.
