Spring gives us all time to make the necessary preparations in garden and house for the next hot summer. This includes choosing the right pump to quickly clear the garden, the pool, or, if necessary, the house. Because between the water from wells and streams, from pools, ponds, cisterns or from pumping out flooded cellars, there are big differences in the degree of contamination and correspondingly different solutions. And this is exactly why Trotec offers you an extensive range of powerful and reliable ‘underwater’ pumps – the submersible pumps of the TWP-E series for clear and dirty water.
Submerged pumps are pumps that are immersed directly into the water to be pumped out or around during operation. Their great advantage over other pumps is that no pump lines leading to the liquid are required for pumping out. You can place a good quality submerged pump, such as the ‘underwater’ pumps of the TWP-E series, permanently at its place of use without fear of moisture damage. The insulation of all live parts ensures operational safety. But what else should you consider when choosing a suitable submerged pump?
Submerged Clear Water Pump or Submerged Waste Water Pump?
1. Submerged clear water pumps of the TWP-E series
are used to effectively pump out and recirculate clear liquids or liquids that are only slightly contaminated with dirt particles, for example to convey domestic sewage, rain or seepage water, to drain pools and when there is a washing machine leakage in the house. Despite the name, clear water pumps can handle particle sizes in the range of 5mm. The clear water submerged pumps of the TWP-E series offer you these advantages:
- Ideal for draining flat surfaces and for pumping around and out, e.g. for swimming pools, basement rooms, leakage from washing machines
- Easy pumping of clear water with up to 5 mm large suspended particles
- Extremely durable due to a ceramic mechanical seal
- Maintenance-free motor with integrated thermal protection circuit in case of overheating
- Automatic switching on and off thanks to the infinitely adjustable float switch
- Dry run protection in automatic operation
- Possibility of fixing the float switch for continuous operation
- Flat suction up to 3 mm with wipe-dry result
2. Submerged waste water pump of the TWP-E series
transport heavily contaminated water, which takes place when, for example, emptying garden ponds, tanks or cisterns, pumping water out of construction and waste water pits; removing water from lakes, ponds and rivers, or in cases of emergency draining due to flooding. In the case of water pumps, the particle size is therefore significantly higher, measuring 25mm. Due to their high-quality technology, the pumps provide indispensable support in pumping out construction and waste water pits as well as in emergency drainage after flooding has occurred. This is how you benefit from the submerged waste water pumps of the TWP-E series from Trotec:
- Ideally suited for water extraction as well as for pumping over and out, e.g. for swimming pools, basement rooms, rainwater barrels, garden ponds, small excavation pits, during flooding
- For effortless pumping of clear and waste water with up to 25 mm large dirt and suspended particles
- Extremely durable due to a ceramic mechanical seal
- Maintenance-free motor with integrated thermal protection circuit in case of overheating
- Automatic switching on and off thanks to the float switch depending on the water level
- Dry run protection in automatic operation
- Possibility of fixing the float switch for continuous operation
Further requirement criteria for your submerged pump
- Plastic or stainless steel pump? Submerged pumps with a pump housing made of stainless steel are more robust against weather influences, impacts and shocks and are preferably used in wells or rainwater cisterns. Plastic pumps are mobile all-rounders with a comparatively low weight and are easy and convenient to transport. For normal, everyday use, a submerged waste water pump with a high-quality plastic housing is sufficiently protected against impacts and external influences.
- the immersion depth corresponds to the distance from the upper edge of the unit to the water surface. For a high-quality, low-voltage pump, the immersion depth is typically seven metres.
- the delivery head describes the difference in height between the pumping location and the destination to which the liquid is directed upwards. For example, a powerful clear water pump, such as the TWP 9005 E from Trotec, has a delivery head of eleven and a half and a waste water pump such as the TWP 11025 E from Trotec has a delivery head of eleven metres.
- the delivery rate is specified in litres per hour. More powerful pumps deliver between 1,000 and 15,000 litres. With a delivery volume of more than 10,000 litres per hour, the submerged pump can also be used for very high demands, for example in the event of flooding.
- the particle or grain size indicates the maximum diameter of solids in the liquid that is to be pumped. Clear water pumps can handle a particle size in the range of 5mm and waste water pumps a particle size of up to 25mm.
- the residual water level indicates how much water remains after pumping, i.e. on the ground or in the container to be pumped out. With shallow-suction submerged pumps, the residual water level is only a few millimetres, which you can simply mop up. Flat suction pumps are important purchase criterion, especially in the event of water damage in buildings.
- the float switch ensures that the submerged pump switches on and off when a certain water level is reached. Submerged pumps with a lockable float switch are particularly practical for setting desired filling or water levels individually. Submerged pumps with float switch locking can either be used in manual operation with automatic switch-on and switch-off function or in continuous operation with a fixed float switch.
